9:00AM Morning Session:
Dr. Chris Alexander, PE
President & Co-Founder - IDT EXPO, LLC | President - ADV Integrity, Inc
For almost 25 years, Chris has been involved in the assessment of damaged pipelines around the world. The early portion of his career focused on dented pipelines, although a majority of is career has involved the evaluation of high strength composite reinforcing technologies for high pressure pipelines resulting in the publication of more than 100 technical articles and presentations around the world. Today, Chris will be presenting on the "Seven Rungs of the Technology Readiness Level Ladder". TRLs provide an effective means for evaluating the "operational readiness" of a specific technology. In partnering with ADV Integrity, IDT EXPO's sister company, technology innovators, operators, and investors can reduce the time required in taking technologies from concept to field-qualified technologies. Time is money and reducing the time required to bring fully-functioning technologies to market is essential.

Simon Bellemare, PhD, PE is, is CEO of Massachusetts Materials Technologies LLC (MMT), developing practical solutions for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of mechanical properties of steel in-service including strength and toughness. Dr. Bellemare is also a half-time lecturer at MIT and a part-time engineering consultant. His education and expertise is primarily in metallurgy, materials science, and mechanics including with PhD from MIT in 2006. The MMT team is committed to help bring new technologies and solutions to support our growing need for condition assessment of aging infrastructures
Steven Palkovic, PhD, is CTO of Massachusetts Materials Technologies LLC (MMT), developing practical solutions for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of mechanical properties of steel in-service including strength and toughness. Dr. Palkovic is also an engineering consultant with the Materials and Engineering Group (MEG) since 2011. His education and expertise is primarily in mechanics, computational modeling and analytics including with PhD from MIT in 2017. As CTO, Steve manage the data analytics and reporting service as well as continuing development efforts to further the technologies into different other applications for the industry.
Both Simon and Steve hold PhDs from MIT and are committed to help bring new technologies and solutions to support our growing need for condition assessment of aging infrastructures.

Simon Slater is Principal Integrity Engineer - Materials & Welding at ROSEN - USA. Mr. Slater will be presenting on ROSEN’s new inline inspection service suite, RoMat, which has been developed to address pipe and material properties, thus putting an end to incomplete pipeline construction records. RoMat is the solution for pipe grade determination, local hard spots detection, and long-seam categorization, delivering all data needed to fulfill the requirements of M(A)OP (Maximum (Allowable) Operating Pressure) validations comprehensively and holistically.

11:30AM Lunch Meeting Presentations:
Providing us with a Regulatory Update from the US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), is Mr. Bill Lowry.
Bill serves as a Community Liaison in Houston, Texas and has worked for PHMSA for the past 18 years. Prior to working at PHMSA Bill had experience working for state regulatory agencies and in the pipeline and oil industry. Work responsibilities have included engineering, construction and inspection of pipelines both onshore and offshore. Bill has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. Bill is a NACE certified Cathodic Protection Technologist, Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist and Pipeline Corrosion Integrity Management Technologist.
Providing insight on PHMSA's Mega Rule from the Operator's Perspective is Mr. Dave Johnson, Director, Pipeline Safety at Energy Transfer.
Dave has a 45-plus-year career in the energy industry, with almost 40 of those years related to the operation, safety and integrity of natural gas transmission pipelines. He has been involved in materials specification and testing, failure investigations, welding, coatings and corrosion control, testing and inspection, regulatory compliance, and integrity management program development and implementation. (In fact, one of his first jobs in corrosion control was spraying pipeline rights-of-way with the now-banned DDT to prevent termites from eating through wooden pipelines.)
IDT EXPO is proud to host our regulators at our Winter Quarterly Meeting. Mr. Steve Nanney, Project Manager with US DOT / PHMSA and Mr. Bill Lowry, Community Liaison - Houston, US DOT / PHMSA, are joining us on today's panel to provide insight and to answer your questions.
Our IDT EXPO Winter Quarterly Meeting will wrap up by 2:30PM.
Join the conversation. Join the community.
